Holy Land Experience

January 14th, 2010

This past weekend, I traveled to Orlando, Florida to see the “Holy Land Experience”. The Holy Land Experience is day filled with bringing the bible to life by using real actors and actresses who portray and dress like the original bible characters and actually act out scenes of the bible throughout various areas of the park throughout the day. It is a day of fun and fellowship and insight for people to grasp a better understanding of what Jesus had to go through. It was an experience that will not soon be forgotten. We then went back to the condo for some drinks from the home kegerator. During my time in Orlando, I also took some time to visit the City Walk and attend a Fiesta Poolside party. On the way home, I stopped at St. Augustine to see the Fountain of Youth.

Choosing a Dog Collar and Leash

January 12th, 2010

It does not take long for your puppy to adjust to a dog collar and leash. Even adult dogs can learn to accept a collar and a leash in as little as three to four hours. When you choose a dog collar and dog leash, keep two things in mind: safety and comfort. But don’t confuse safety and comfort with “boring”! Here are some collars and leashes that are safe, comfortable and fun. Dog Gone Designs Collars & Leashes come in bright colors and dog-friendly designs. They are fully adjustable and made from soft, durable nylon. These collars and leashes come in a variety of patterns and sizes. They sure stand out in a crowd! A friend of mine got a Harley-Davidson dog collar and leash for his Boxer. These Harley-Davidson Leather Dog Collars are constructed of two layers of top-grain leather, with orange stitching, nickel studs and spikes, and the Harley Bars & Shield logo medallion. And… they are made in the U.S.A.! This Harley Davidson Nylon Lead comes in bright neon-orange or black and has either the Harley Davidson logo, or “Bad to the Bone” saying surrounding it. Matching collars are also available.

Today I Was Super Woman!

Today, exactly two months after I had a baby, I woke up to what seemed like a normal, routine day. I’m still at home, enjoying motherhood and the sweet company of my newborn and that’s a wonderful reason to stay away from work or even to run errands outside the home. And I’ve sat around for more than four months now. But today was different! I had to wake up early and prepare breakfast for my husband and daughter before they left for work and school because my helper called in sick. Then I had to clean up the house and attend to the baby at the same time. By mid day, the time my daughter knocks off from school, my husband called and said he couldn’t pick her up because he was in a meeting, and somebody had to pick up his suits from the dry cleaners because he has a very important meeting tomorrow. So there I was, my baby in my hands and errands to run. I haven’t driven in more than 9 months and that was rush hour! For the first time in a little close to a year I grabbed the car keys and ventured out. I picked up my daughter from school, picked up my husband’s laundry and came back home to continue with my house chores. Right now my back hurts and my feet are sore! So much for super woman.

Garlic Lime London Broil with Parmesan Couscous

January 6th, 2010

Last night, my girlfriend and I ate London Broil. We slow-cooked it for five hours on medium in a garlic lime marinade from Lawry’s. We chopped up a fresh onion and put that into the mixture for some added flavor, too. Along with the London Broil, we prepared a box of Near East Parmesan Couscous. For a beverage, my girlfriend made up a pitcher of peace iced tea. And for dessert, we ate a couple of pink lemonade cookies we’d made the day before. The cookies are made from pink lemonade concentrate and iced with a pink lemonade concentrate, sugar, and lemon zest mixture. They taste exactly as one would expect a pink lemonade-flavored cookie to taste, and they are very light and fluffy.
