My high school years were some of the worst in my life. I moved when I started the 11th grade. That is the worse age to start a new school! Not only did I have to leave my old friends, that I knew since first grade, I had to meet new ones that were only concerned about graduating and their little cliques. I felt like such an outsider. I did make friends with some of the unpopular kids that were out of the circle. Since I was already insecure, this didn’t help my situation. I did love band – I had an awesome band teacher that felt my pain and pushed me to excel in something that I enjoyed.

Don’t Want to Go Back
March 17th, 2010I Suppose I Drive A Ford?

I know nothing about cars. I have to say, I really don’t care to know anything about cars. I am of the mindset that as long as I can get around, I’m great. My husband tells me it’s a Ford Taurus, but it doesn’t matter to me. I still don’t even know the license plate number. I love that my car has a CD player that works. I’ve had cars where I had to bring my own music into the car. I don’t like that my car has scratches that makes it look older than it really is – but that’s just cosmetic, I can live with it.
Why Listen to Music That Doesn’t Uplift You?
March 11th, 2010When I was younger, I listened to music that my friends listened to. Even if I didn’t like it, I listened to it just to fit in. As I got older, I realize that music is worthless if you don’t learn something or feel uplifted from it. I even teach my kids now that you need to understand the words to the song and what it is saying. If not, you are just like a monkey just reciting what you hear over and over again. Sometimes, the music overpowers the message and I just have to switch it to another song – but overall, Christian music is definitely my choice for the most wholesome music around.
Houses are Better
March 8th, 2010I live in a house, and have for most of my adult life. I lived in an apartment when I was a teenager, and I remember there was this lady on top of our apartment that let her son run around all hours of the night. Also, I remember taking my laundry down to the basement and being afraid I would get raped or strangled or something. I have to say that houses are so much better than apartments. The only thing about houses is that you have to clean the yard and take care of repairs yourself and such – but that’s what husbands and children are for.
