Best Present Ever

February 12th, 2011

When I was 8 years old, I lived in a neighborhood that somehow only had boys in it, plus one girl who had two brothers and grew up a tomboy.  We all played outside together, whether biking through the woods or playing a game of catch inside, and during the summer, we all played on baseball teams together, coached by one of the kids’ dads.  The latest gadget that year, however, changed our play habits.  Instead of riding around outside in the sun, we all gathered around Brandon’s TV and played Nintendo.  We spent hours frantically mashing buttons on the controllers, trying to get Super Mario to jump where we wanted him to.  That Christmas, my brother and I pooled our “Santa gift” to get a Nintendo of our own.  Best Christmas ever.

I am going to use this space to talk about the new 17 Day Diet. I started this diet on January 2nd, and I must say that I have seen great results for myself and my other friends who have also been doing it. The way of eating is just so healthy and wonderful. There are absolutely no man made sugars on this diet, except for the occasional exception of chocolate. All the rest of our sweet cravings must be satisfied with fruits! However, I feel really good about eating in such a healthy way. In combination with exercise, I have felt wonderful about my lifestyle changes.

Greece, Please.

February 4th, 2011

Without a doubt I would love to visit Greece for a vacation. I am very interested in ancient Greek mythology and culture. I would love to spend a few days seeing all of the old buildings and learning more about current Greek culture. I regret to say that I do not know much about the country in recent times. I don’t like feeling uneducated about such well known parts of the world! The two people I would love to take with me are my mother, and my best friend from college. My mother is definitely the inspiration for my love of traveling because she always took my family on wonderful trips when I was younger. My best friend from college is also a great lover of adventure!

Happy New Year!

The most recent holiday that I celebrated was New Year’s Day. I did not have any complaints. My mother makes an absolutely delicious pork and saurkraut, and I always look forward to having it! Also, we always start a new diet on January 2nd of the New Year, so I love indulging on the 1st! This year I had an added special surprise of going to a concert in the evening. It was unexpected, but during the day some fellow musicians invited me to a show for free. We all ended up hanging out until 3 in the morning, which made up for my fairly subdued New Year’s Eve.
