When I sit down for my usual dose of TV, I like watching police dramas. The best shows tend to focus less on what the police specifically do and more on general societal issues and ethical issues that affect police. Police dramas also focus on real world skills and fears of general interest. What I mean by that is, we all have to figure out if somebody’s lying about something. We are all faced with situations where we must choose the lesser of two evils. We have all experienced the loss of someone we would consider a partner. We must all suffer angst if we must break the law to accomplish a greater good, and we have all broken laws or contemplated breaking laws, even if they are arguably very minor violations like speeding. Police dramas reflect the human condition in a unique way, and are therefore very entertaining to watch.

March 30th, 2011A $500 Shopping Spree?!
March 24th, 2011If I had $500 to spend at the mall, I would spend it all at an electronics store. I would buy a few video games, a new computer monitor, and wireless headphones. Next I would hit a bookstore and search for audiobooks. While I consider myself quite literate, I also consider myself quite lazy, and have little interest in reading anything that could just as easily be read to me. After grabbing a quick bite to eat in the food court, I would find the bank and deposit all but $50 into a tax free savings account. With the other $50, I would buy groceries and call it a day. There’s nothing wrong with being practical as well as extravagant.

I have a job that I really enjoy working at
March 21st, 2011I do consider my life a fulfilled one. I have a job that I really enjoy working at, I have a great group of friends that make me laugh and keep me honest, and I have a wonderful girlfriend who is my best friend and confidant. Additionally, I have a number of hobbies that I feel enrich my life and present me with plenty of challenges and puzzles to solve and overcome. I also have to mention the wonderful family that I’ve been blessed to be a part of. The things we have shared, when reflecting, make me thankful for them everyday of my life.
My older brother has been a huge positive influence on my life
March 19th, 2011Growing up, I wouldn’t have said such things, as brothers tend to fight and sibling rivalries can be strong things. But as we grow up, and he went off to college, we became closer, and by the time I had entered college we were actually quite good friends. Over the years, we have fostered that friendship through shared interest and I have come to look up and respect him in many ways, trying to emulate him in my own life in a number of ways. Namely, how I treat people, trying to give back to the community that has given me so much, and the music I like to listen to!
